1. Where is Hawaii Surf Bali located?
 

Hawaii Surf Bali is based in Uluwatu, Bali, right in the heart of some of the island’s best and most consistent surf spots. Our location allows easy access to beginner-friendly beaches as well as world-class reef breaks.

2. Do I need prior surfing experience?

No experience is required. We offer lessons for all levels, from complete beginners to intermediate surfers looking to improve technique, wave selection, and confidence in the water.

3. What surf spots do you teach at?

We choose surf spots based on your skill level, ocean conditions, and tides. Lessons take place on all areas of Uluwatu and Nusa Dua area, we can bring you all over Bali to show you around to different surf spots. Check out our surf spot page for information on each surf spot in Bali. HERE

4. Is surfing safe for beginners in Uluwatu?

Yes, when guided by experienced instructors. Safety is our top priority. Our coaches are local professionals who understand reef breaks, currents, and conditions, ensuring lessons are conducted in safe and appropriate locations.

5. What is included in a surf lesson?

Our surf lessons typically include:

  • Professional surf coaching

  • Surfboard rental

  • Rash guard

  • Ocean safety briefing

  • Surf theory

6. How long is each surf lesson?

Our surf lessons are 2 hour long, including surf theory before entering the water. We do not offer 1 hour long surf sessions but if you find 2 hours too long we can always end the surf lesson earlier. If you are really enjoying the surf lesson you can extend it by paying for an extra long surf session. 

7. Do you offer private and group lessons?

Yes. We offer private lessons for personalized coaching, if you are a couple we have the option of semi-private surf lessons and also group lessons for more than 3 people. If you have a big group we recommend booking in advance.

8. What should I bring to my surf lesson?

We recommend bringing:

  • Swimwear

  • Towel

  • Cash

  • Water

Everything else needed for the lesson will be provided.

9. What is the best time of year to surf in Bali?

Bali offers surf year-round. The dry season (April–October) provides consistent waves on the west coast, including Uluwatu, while the wet season (November–March) still offers great conditions, especially for beginners. During the high season the weather is clean and the wind is not strong. 

10. Can children take surf lessons?
 

Children can take surf lessons with us, it is just important that you are clear when letting us know what level of surfing your kids are, so we can bring the kids to a safe beach regarding their surf level. 

11. Do you provide surf photography and video analysis?
 

Hawaii Surf Bali has it's own sister company Indo Surf Cam, which offers professional videos for our clients if requested in advance. If you book videos for your surf session, we will give after the surf session video analysis, so you can improve your surf level. 

12. How do I book a surf lesson?

You can book your surf lesson in Uluwatu through whatsapp or our instagram. The whatsapp number is found below. If you have custom regards or want to book surf lessons for a retreat or a big group make sure to text us, so we can arrange a special deal with you guys!

13. What is your cancellation policy?

If you book a week in advanced we take a 20% deposit to prioritize your booking, this is a non refundable deposit. If the surf lesson is cancelled because of the weather conditions, we will make a new schedule for your surf lesson to assure you get to surf. 

14. Insurance for surfboard

If you book an intermediate or advanced surf lesson including the surfboard, we recommend paying 50k per session, if you have more than a week surf lessons it will be 200k in total. If you do not have surfboard insurance we do not stand for the costs of the surfboard if broken, you will have to pay for the damage if the surfboard is broken during the surflesson.
