Beginner Surf Lessons in Bali: All You Need to Know
Our beginner surf lessons in Uluwatu are designed for anyone who has never surfed before or hasn’t surfed in a long time. We focus on teaching the essential basics of surfing, from paddling and standing up to ocean safety, so you can build confidence, stay safe, and enjoy catching your first waves in Bali.
THE LESSON
SURFING AS A BEGINNER
For the first surf lesson you will have an introduction to surfing before entering the water. Your instructor will go through the basics of surfing and answer all your questions. Entering the water your instructor will guide you safely out to where you will be surfing. In the water you will be with your instructor the whole time and he will help you catch white wash waves, small waves perfect to practice the basics. Our instructor will make your surf lesson fun and try to get as many waves as possible for you.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Learn to Surf: The Must-Know Basics
Our surf instructors will teach you the fundamentals step by step—how to enter and exit the water safely, paddle out to the lineup, turtle roll under waves, catch waves, and stand up with proper technique. Similar to what you would learn at a surf camp, we provide the same essential training but in a more personal and affordable way. In your first lesson, the main goal is to ride broken waves (white water), which are perfect for practicing balance and building confidence. Throughout the session, your instructor will correct your stance and positioning, giving you personalized feedback so you can progress at your own pace.
The main things you will learn during your surf lesson
Get in and out of the water safely -
we will teach you which areas are safe to enter and exit the water. In Balangan you surf close to the beach in easy beginner friendly waves, and in Dreamland beach is also beginner friendly waves but you need to know where to exit the water safely. This information is included in the surf theory at the beginning of your surf lesson.
Push through and turtle roll -
You will learn how to push through small broken waves while lying on your board, and how to use the turtle roll technique to pass under waves safely when paddling out to the lineup. These methods will help you get past the breaking waves and reach the lineup with more confidence.
Stand up on the board -
We will teach you the technique on how to catch a wave and when to stand up, when surfing the wave its up to your balance on how long you can go. When surfing the first time, you will mostly learn how to surf straight, but the more lessons you take the more control you will have of the surfboard.
Knowledge of the surf spot-
You will know more about how the surf spot where you surfed works how the waves break in that spot and where it is possible to catch waves.
message us on whatsapp and let us know how many times you have surfed, if its your first surf lesson or you have already tried a couple times. Tell us also what date you want to surf on, and we will give you the right time and surf spot for you. Because of the changing tides in Bali, it is not possible to all times during the day. But we will do our best to find a good surf spot matching your schedule.
