Our intermediate surf lessons in Uluwatu are for surfers who are already comfortable standing up on a board and catching green waves. These lessons focus on improving your technique, including paddling efficiency, positioning in the lineup, reading waves, and learning how to take off on different types of waves.

THE LESSON
Transitioning from beginner to intermediate level
Intermediate surf lessons are for someone who already can surf with a hardboard, catching green waves. You will surf in different surf spots, and learn where and how to enter the ocean. We will teach you surf theory before entering the water, so you can improve your surfing skills and know what to focus on. It is okay to still feel like you do not know what you are doing, we will help you build up your confidence.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Improve your skills and build confidence in the water.
Intermediate surfers knows the basic of surfing but still struggling in the water with reading the wave and having control when surfing. We will help you improve your skills, teaching you how to go left and right on waves, how to read the waves and how to catch different types of waves. The goal is for you to become more confident in the water, knowing more spots around Uluwatu and doing your first turns when surfing. During your surf lesson, we will tell you a couple things to focus on so you can improve on your weaknesses
The main things you will learn during your surf lesson
Positioning and paddling out efficiently –
You will learn how to position yourself correctly in the lineup and paddle with better timing and technique. This will help you save energy, reach the take-off spot more smoothly, and be ready to catch green waves with confidence.
Catching unbroken waves –
We will focus on how to read the ocean and identify the right waves to paddle for. Your surf instructor will guide you on proper take-off positioning and how to angle your board to ride along the wave face instead of just going straight. To surf both left handers and right handers.
Stand up on the board -
Once you’re comfortable catching green waves, you will practice surfing along the wave and learn to do basic frontside and backside turns. These surf skills will allow you to generate speed and stay in the power of the wave longer.
Knowledge of the surf spots around Uluwatu
You will get to surf different spots around Uluwatu depending on the swell size, learn how to read the surf break and know the hazards. This will also improve your surfing skills, when you surf different types of surf spots.





For each surf lesson in Uluwatu area, we will focus on a couple things for you to improve on. To keep it simple and help your surfing to progress faster

Tell us also what date you want to surf on, and we will give you the right time and surf spot for you. Because of the changing tides in Bali, it is not possible to all times during the day. But we will do our best to find a good surf spot matching your schedule.
Learning to surf at an intermediate level is all about consistency and refining your technique. That’s why we recommend booking more than just a single lesson. At our surf school in Uluwatu, we offer packages of 5 to 10 lessons (or more) to give you the best chance to progress quickly and confidently in Bali’s waves. With regular coaching, you’ll become more comfortable in the lineup, improve your paddling and positioning, and gain the skills to catch and ride green waves with better control.
